CRAFT
PROFILES
A central part of my practice is documenting craftsmanship: makers, their processes, and the wider cultural ecosystems they are a part of.
My work on craft - across written and audio-visual journalism, branded and film projects - seeks to investigate the growing popularity of craftsmanship, and illuminate the importance of the ways of thinking, living, working and being that artisans and their work encapsulate, which I believe have value to offer us all.
HOLY CRAFT!
The project that started it all.
Following a potter, printmaker, and team of historic boat restorers, this three-part series of short documentaries takes an intimate look at the art of making and its connection to our cultural identities, emotional worlds, capacity for long-term thinking and deeply creative brains.
-
I was commissioned by the University of Leiden to write and direct a three-part documentary series exploring craftsmanship in the UK & the Netherlands, and its connection to three contemporary issues: cultural identity, mental health, and sustainability.

-
A written feature exploring the value of craftsmanship for Breathe Magazine.
WEAVERS OF SARDINIA
I travelled to Sardinia to research and document the island's ancient & unique textile tradition, visit women artisans in the island's rural interior, and capture the process of carpet weaving and the wisdom it has afforded them for magazines Italy Segreta and Beyond Noise.
-
After remotely researching the island’s historic textile hubs, I took to Facebook groups and Google Maps pins to locate active weavers working from their homes. I then travelled to Sardinia to visit 5 partners (from home weavers to brands to the Museum of Sardinian Textiles) to film interviews and documented the process on Instagram.
-
I was commissioned to write an editorial feature covering Sardinian weaving in past, present and future, for Italy Segreta’s next print magazine focused on Islands – coming autumn 2025.
-
Editing hours of self-shot footage into a 5 minute short film for Beyond Noise magazine, I sought to strike a balance between the craft of carpet weaving itself, its symbols and social history, and the words of wisdom offered by the grandmothers I visited, which have the potential to be universally relevant.
CRAFT AND CONSUMPTION
Two conversations with Oxford-based craft retailers Goodies and Objects of Use exploring the connection between crafted goods and more sustainable consumption habits, for Monocle Radio.

I fully produced this package, including interviewing, sound recording, editing, scripting and presenting.

I self-shot and edited two mini films to capture the guests - Oxford-based craft retailers Objects of Use and Goodies - and promote this feature on Instagram.
ARTISANAL FOOD & WINE OF VAL D’ORCIA
In the rolling hills of Tuscany, regenerative food and wine practices are flourishing among ancient landscapes. This radio profile for Monocle’s The Menu takes listeners through Val d’Orcia’s heritage crops of grain, grapes, and olives, and the local producers cultivating them with deep respect for tradition, biodiversity, and the land itself.
-
I sourced a range of local partners, producers and stakeholders in artisanal food production to feature in this piece, and delved into the history of the region to better understand the roots of agriculture and belief systems about human relationships with land to frame this story.

I fully produced this package, including interviewing, sound recording, editing, scripting and presenting.

MAKERS OF VENICE
A comprehensive journey to research, meet, interview and document Venetian artisans, their crafts, the challenges they face, and the hidden stories of a city visited by many but truly known by few.
-
After weeks of remote research - zooming in on obscure Google maps pins, endless WhatsApp threads, and browsing local newspapers, magazines and collectives - I continued my research on the ground. I visited Venetian artisans in their workshops and interviewed the creatives building infrastructure to support them, documenting it all on Instagram.
-
An audio feature for Monocle Radio’s The Daily, tracing the history of Venice and its Carnival through the lens of craftsmanship, from the Silk Road to today.
-
A print feature for Breathe Magazine covering Venice’ relationship with fabrics: lace, brocades, ancient looms and a last generations of makers.
-
A multi-stakeholder social media activation designed to weave the public and private organisations who belong to Venice’s artisanal community together through a visually impactful mini film, self-shot and edited by me.
-
I sourced and built relationships with creative entrepreneurs, craftspeople, artisanal Venetian brands, museums, hospitality partners and cultural organisations to curate and profile these spaces & people, and promote an alternative way to experience the city - one that supports its social fabric, heritage preservation and cultural regeneration.
